On-Line CLE
Maximum of 6 hours of Online CLE each year
Each activity is a web cast available for delayed viewing over the Internet. The time spent in each CLE activity may be credited toward the CLE requirement of fifteen (15) clock hours per year, established by Court Rules 41.3 and 42.2 of the Iowa Supreme Court. However, no individual attorney may claim more than six hours of computer-based CLE in any one calendar year.
Reporting of Online CLE/Certificate of Attendance
The position of the CLE Commission of the Iowa Supreme Court is that attorneys who participate in telephone or computer-based (online) CLE activities must provide certain substantiation as a condition precedent to CLE credit in Iowa. Attorneys are responsible for substantiating their attendance, by attaching the sponsor's certificate of the attorney's attendance for the event to the Commission on Continuing Legal Education at the close of the calendar year.
All ISBA telephone and computer-based (online) CLE programs listed on the website have already been approved and have been given activity ID numbers. The attorney will need to attach the certificate of attendance for each online and/or telephone CLE program to their CLE reporting form at the end of the year.
It is no longer necessary for an attorney to submitt a telephone or online CLE event for prior accreditation or post-event accreditation, as long as the event has already been reviewed and assigned an activity ID number and credit. If an event has not been previously reviewed, the sponsor or an attorney may submit the event for review and accreditation.
Post-event accreditation application forms are available at the following site on the Internet:
